1930S: THE BEGINNINGS OF INNOVATION – It all began with a deeply personal quest for Westye Bakke, the founder of Sub-Zero. His goal was clear: to create a reliable solution for preserving insulin for his diabetic son. Thus, he began experimenting with refrigeration in his Wisconsin basement, driven by this family necessity.

1945: THE FOUNDING OF THE AMERICAN COMPANY – In that year, Westye Bakke officially launched his company, Sub-Zero Freezer Company. He introduced refrigeration systems capable of maintaining ultra-low temperatures, paving the way for a new era in food preservation.

1950S: THE BRAND’S FIRST BUILT-IN REFRIGERATOR – The company introduced its first built-in refrigerator, allowing perfect integration of appliances with kitchen cabinetry.

2000: THE SUB-ZERO WOLF EXPANSION – Sub-Zero acquired Wolf Range Corporation, a California-based manufacturer of professional cooking appliances. This acquisition marked a turning point for the company, expanding its offering to provide a full suite of luxury kitchen appliances.

2018: THE LAUNCH OF COVE – Sub-Zero completed its offering with the introduction of Cove dishwashers. The company is now able to fully equip kitchens: refrigeration with Sub-Zero, cooking with Wolf, and dishwashing with Cove.
